Croeso i Ddosbarth 5!
Our context for learning this term is...
This context covers a wide range of areas of learning and the children have been busy this term, developing their skills with lots of hands on experiences.
We discovered that not many of the children had been to a circus before so we have been finding out about the various acts and performers that we might see there. We knew that the circus tent is called a 'Big Top' and so we have created our own 'Roly Poly Circus' big top role play in class, complete with ticket booth. We made hotdogs from salt dough, along with popcorn and candyfloss to sell for our performances and have created signs and posters to advertise our show. We are developing our oracy skills by performing shows for our classmates, we love being the ringmaster!
At the beginning of the term we had a fun filled afternoon when Luke from 'Jugglestruck' came to visit, to show us how to perform circus skills. We tried plate spinning, mini bikes, stilt walking, juggling and balloon modelling. Luke made it all look very easy but we soon realised that it wasn't!! We keep practising the circus skills that we have learnt, and will soon be making our own juggling balls!
