Miss Norton is the Class 2 teacher.
Mrs Xiberras and Miss Goodman are the Teaching Assistants in Class 2.
We have enjoyed meeting you and your children and are excited for the year ahead.
Our Topic this term is "On the Move"
The children will plan and set up a role play area of their choice linked to a way of travelling. They will make posters, tickets, maps etc for their pretend journeys. They will also go on an imaginary magic carpet ride and make story maps and plans for their adventure.
We have started to introduce letter sounds to the children and they will begin to bring a sound book home for you to help them with their letter formation and recall of the sounds for reading. They will also start to bring home lists of high frequency words that they will need to learn by sight rather than sounding out, in order to prepare them for reading. Later in the term we will send reading books home. Our stock of books is limited but we will also give you information about logging on to Activelearn Bug Club, where your child will be allocated an ebook with linked activities.
The children will be learning to count up to 20 and recognise numbers. They will count objects and begin to add simple sets of numbers together. We use the Little Big Maths approach to help the children learn number facts in the form of learn its. We will let you know in homework books which learn its we have been practising.
Snack Money is £1.50 to be paid on Mondays
