Dog Handler visit to Year 1

Here is a report written by Class 3:

The police dog's name is Cracker.

He is 8 years old. He is black and white. He is a Springer Spaniel. He is a sniffer dog. He can use his sense of smell to find guns, money and missing people. He can also find stolen jewellery. The dog had an amazing sense of smell. It is 400 times stronger than our sense of smell. We hid Cracker’s favourite ball in the hall and he found it every time!

It takes 8 weeks to train the police dogs. Cracker was trained at 2 years old. He was specially picked to be police dog. His dad is an officer in the army. Cracker has 3 or 4 walks a day and goes home with P.C Richie Heath  and sleeps in his kennel with his friend Ozzy the German Shepherd. We really enjoyed Cracker visiting us.
