Dr Bike's visit

Schools in Cardiff have been running the 'Bike It' project for the past three years with some success in promoting cycling and active travel. The project running at Willowbrook has continued to grow since the introduction of the bike shelter. On Wednesday 8th May, children who cycled into school were rewarded with a free ‘Bike It Breakfast’ provided by Sustrans. The children tucked into a selection of pastries, fruits, yogurts and fruit juices.

Furthermore, the children who had cycled into school were entitled to a free bike safety check from 'Dr Bike', aka Simon from Tredz bike shop of Cardiff. Dr Bike spent the day meticulously checking, repairing and servicing all of the bikes and scooters so that they were roadworthy.

The cycle scheme continues to flourish, more and more children are cycling in, regardless of the weather, and the school aims to achieve its Bronze Award by Spring 2014.
