  • Group winners at the girls' football festival at Radyr Primary

    Fri 19 May 2017 Steve Davies
    Well done to our fantastic KS2 football team coming home with some silverware having played 4 and won all 4 matches in their group! We are so proud of you all and a big thanks to Mrs Parsons and Alissa, the coaching team for doing a great job in getting them geared up and ready!
  • Jacobs Engineering Company helps clear our gardening area

    Fri 05 May 2017 Steve Davies

    We are so grateful to Jacob engineering company for selecting Willowbrook Primary as part of their community partnership to carry out some much appreciated gardening work in the Key Stage 2 playground. They cleared the allotment beds, repaired and replaced some of the wooden frames and planted a variety of eco-friendly plants. They also gave us an 'Insect Hotel' which helps attract a variety of invertebrates.

    Our thanks again to the team of volunteers who gave up their afternoon to make a difference to our school grounds!

  • Bling your Bike Competition

    Fri 07 Apr 2017 Steve Davies
    Some 25 bikes, scooters and helmets were 'blinged' to make them visible with an Easter theme for this competition. Well done to all who did such a great job in decoration and to our winners who received prizes at our final Spring Term assembly. Our thanks to Sustrans for contributing some fantastic prizes for the competition; it really is a partnership we value!
  • John Davies, Sky Sports Presenter, visits Willowbrook!

    Wed 05 Apr 2017 Steve Davies

    We were delighted to welcome John Davies, one of Sky Sports' news presenters to the school today. We learnt more about his background and career journey into journalism and he gave some key pieces of advice for our pupils:

    1. Be true to yourselves;

    2. Stay humble in all achievements;

    3. Don't give up!

    He shared his story in assembly and then spent some quality time with Year 6 answering a range of questions which were insightful and wide-ranging.

    Thanks John for giving the time to visit today and to help raise the future aspirations for the pupils at Willowbrook!

  • Sustrans Superheroes Day

    Fri 31 Mar 2017 Steve Davies
    Thank you to all the children who looked spectacular today as we held our Superheroes Day to support Sustrans, a transport charity we work closely with, to promote safer travel. We raised £280 from the day and the photos are packed full of Willowbrook heroes/heroines as you can see!
  • School to School Partnership with Penyrenglyn Primary

    Mon 27 Mar 2017 Steve Davies
    We gave a very special welcome today to staff and pupils from Penyrenglyn Primary, based in Rhondda Cynon Taf, as part of our partnership working. The visit was focused on looking at and sharing aspects of eco-work that have contributed to Willowbrook's Platinum Award. The pupils  from both schools were so enthusiastic in sharing and responding to all the information given and we look forward to offering any continuing support that we can to Penyrenglyn on their own eco-journey! Our thanks to Miss Davies for being a great host for us and for preparing the Committee so well!
  • Year 5 Dance Competition

    Wed 22 Mar 2017 Steve Davies
    Our Year 5 dance group performed brilliantly in an evening of individual and collective performances from many Cardiff-based schools. Thank you to our wonderful parents who came along and gave great support to a super performance from our talented girls. Thanks also to Sports Cardiff for organising another great event to showcase the talent in our Primary aged children.

    Mon 20 Mar 2017 Steve Davies
    Some of our Eco Committee had an early start last Saturday morning as they joined several other schools in displaying their excellent work for the general public to see! This was another opportunity to show all the excellent work completed which led to the prestigious Platinum Award for the school. Thank you to those pupils and parents for giving up their time to do this - we are very grateful!
