  • Year 6 visit Cardiff Castle

Tue 07 Nov 2017 Steve Davies
Our Year 6 classes paid a memorable visit to Cardiff Castle where the theme and focus of their time there was World War 2 which is their topic for this term. They learnt about the need for black-outs to avoid bomb detection; they looked at the type of food that British citizens could eat during rationing and experience life in the bunker when the air raid sirens were sounded! An excellent visit which captivated their interest and imagination as they continue to discover what life was like for those living through a time of war. You can also check out a short movie clip of the classes singing some memorable WW2 songs on the school's twitter feed!
  • Year 5 visit Caerleon

Thu 26 Oct 2017 Steve Davies
Year 5 had a great time and rich historical experience visiting Caerleon, a gem of a village, with significant Roman history attached to it! A great focus for their topic this term, bringing history to life for them!
  • Debating Competition at Llysfaen Primary School

Fri 20 Oct 2017 Steve Davies

Two of our Year 6 pupils took part in a debating competition that looked at the question, 'Should young people be allowed to express how they feel?'

Our two school representatives were given the task of opposing the view and had to present their case giving clear and valid reasons. They both did so well and learnt so much about presenting arguments giving supporting reasons for a viewpoint. Excellent work!

Tue 18 Jul 2017 Steve Davies
What an evening our Year 6 leavers shared with their Mums, Dads and Grandparents in their wonderful production of 'Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits.' Visually eye-catching, wonderful backdrop scenery and absolute mastery in casting and delivery! They have been a great cohort and we will miss them very much - onwards & upwards into Year 7 and we wish you all every happiness!
  • Jeff Smith, Everest Explorer, visits Willowbrook!

Mon 17 Jul 2017 Steve Davies
It was a real honour to welcome Jeff Smith back to Willowbrook to share his incredible recent summit of Mount Everest, the world's highest mountain at 29,029 feet. He was a real inspiration to us all and shared the importance of teamwork, setting a goal to aim to achieve and the value of working hard to realise that goal. It was lovely to learn so much from him and to think he summited at the tender age of 53 - truly inspiring!
