  • Arctic Explorer visits Willowbrook!

Mon 25 Apr 2016 Steve Davies
Antony Jinman has skied to both poles in his time as an explorer and shared his incredible journeys with us today (25.4.16). He also led two excellent workshops, the first on how to make a glacier using cornflour, plasticine and water with Year Three pupils. The second workshop gave Year Six the opportunity to learn more about the necessary equipment needed for an expedition and ask questions covering a wide range of interesting issues. We are so privileged to have welcomed Antony to the school and when he next sets off on his journeys, we plan to email him with questions to find out via 'live link' how he is getting on!

  • Our French Partner Teacher visits Willowbrook!

Fri 22 Apr 2016 Steve Davies
We were really excited to welcome Barbara the French teacher from Bordeaux who Miss Davies stayed with on her visit there in the Autumn Term. The children really enjoyed having Barbara visit their classes and explain all about her school, the local area and the sights of Bordeaux. The children had lots of questions to ask about the French school system and were surprised to hear that the French pupils don’t wear uniform and they have a Wednesday afternoon off! She also taught the children some French songs and we sang some Welsh songs for her too. Barbara came to Miss Davies’ French club and taught the children how to say ‘My favourite subject is…’ and the different French words for stationary items. All the pupils loved having Barbara in the club and felt very lucky to meet someone who spoke fluent French. Merci Barbara!

  • Bling your Bike!

Fri 15 Apr 2016 Steve Davies
As part of our two week 'Big Pedal' where we are encouraging our pupils to cycle or scoot to school, we held a 'Bling your Bike' day on the 15th April. As the photos show, we had some imaginative and highly visible decorations on both bikes and helmets! Well done to all involved and those who came in the top 3 were given prizes to say 'well done!' Our thanks to Hamish from Sustrans for his help and to Miss Davies for organising the event.
