  • 'Feel Good' Friday at Willowbrook!

Fri 29 Jun 2018 Steve Davies
Our 'Healthy Schools Club' came up with the great idea to sell healthy snacks at break-time today to help pupils and staff feel good! The range of fruit options was wide and the demand was huge from all school community members! A great idea that we will be revisiting - thanks Mrs Ellis and Mrs Bardsley for your oversight too!
  • Year 5 visit the Wales Millennium Centre with the WNO

Tue 26 Jun 2018 Steve Davies
What a great occasion savoured by the lunchtime visitors to the WMC today! Our Year 5 pupils combined with pupils from St. Mellons Primary to deliver a quality performance reflecting all their hard work this year with the 'Welsh National Opera.' Our grateful thanks to Dan, Sian and the WNO team for their sterling work in preparing them so well to stand and deliver as well as they did today!
  • Key Stage 2 Sports Day (Traditional Style!)

Mon 25 Jun 2018 Steve Davies

Well, a week of weather contrasts as we faced wet and slippery conditions last week and basked in a heatwave less than a week later! However, the pupils responded superbly well and took part in the events with great enthusiasm and no small measure of skill and finesse!

    We had the following races:

    - Egg and Spoon

    - Grandpa Relay

    - Sack Race

    - Three-legged race

    - Tug-of-War

Well done everyone for giving it your all in the searing heat!

  • Plate Winners in the Football Tournament at Litchard Primary

Fri 22 Jun 2018 Steve Davies
A great result for our football team coming home plate winners today in a competition involving 22 teams! They played so well, supported each other and the final went to penalties and 'sudden death.' Alex Lidgey stepped up to save a penalty securing the plate for Willowbrook! Thanks to Mr. Brady and Mr. Slade for organising our involvement in what was a great day of fun and footie!
  • 'Captain's Table' starts today!

Mon 18 Jun 2018 Steve Davies
We started a new initiative today to recognise and thank those pupils who have been awarded the Lunchtime Supervisors' Certificate each week. At the end of a four-week period, these pupils are invited to have lunch with myself. It was a great privilege to spend today's lunch with these eight pupils and get to know them better!
  • Sponsored Jump Rope event

Mon 18 Jun 2018 Steve Davies

All of our pupils once again enjoyed taking part in our annual 'Jump Rope' event to help raise money to fund the purchase of a new school minibus (our current one has served us well but is over 18 years old now!).

The photos show the fun they had, the weather was kind and the heart rates certainly increased due to the challenge!

Thank you everyone for taking part so enthusiastically - it was a great start to our 'Health & Fitness Week!'

  • Junior JRSO's Assembly

Tue 12 Jun 2018 Steve Davies

Our Junior JRSO Team delivered some key messages and reminders to the school through their assembly today. The main theme was to encourage us to keep safe when crossing roads and make wise and responsible decisions - well done team, you delivered brilliantly!

  • Mr Foy (Parent) delivers safe travel workshops

Wed 06 Jun 2018 Steve Davies
It was lovely to welcome Mr Foy, one of our parents, to lead an assembly on the importance of safe travel across busy roads. However, he was not alone as 'Mason' his guide dog (a beautiful black labrador), also accompanied him and was impeccably behaved! We also welcomed Charlie who works for the 'Guide Dog Association' and together they also ran four workshops for our Year 5 & 6 classes looking in more detail at measures that are in place to help visually impaired members of our communities to keep safe. It was an absolute privilege to haver them with us and we hope that the message shared will help all members of the school community keep safe and help make others safe too!
