Fri 31 Mar 2017 Steve Davies
Thank you to all the children who looked spectacular today as we held our Superheroes Day to support Sustrans, a transport charity we work closely with, to promote safer travel. We raised £280 from the day and the photos are packed full of Willowbrook heroes/heroines as you can see!
  • School to School Partnership with Penyrenglyn Primary

Mon 27 Mar 2017 Steve Davies
We gave a very special welcome today to staff and pupils from Penyrenglyn Primary, based in Rhondda Cynon Taf, as part of our partnership working. The visit was focused on looking at and sharing aspects of eco-work that have contributed to Willowbrook's Platinum Award. The pupils  from both schools were so enthusiastic in sharing and responding to all the information given and we look forward to offering any continuing support that we can to Penyrenglyn on their own eco-journey! Our thanks to Miss Davies for being a great host for us and for preparing the Committee so well!

Thanks also to Sports Cardiff for organising another great event to showcase the talent in our Primary aged children.

  • Nursery end Mural takes shape!

Wed 15 Mar 2017 Steve Davies
To brighten up the outside Nursery wall, we have commissioned an artist to work with our pupils to design and create this wonderful mural ! Its aim is to capture the school community in its surroundings, taking in the natural and structural features that make up the landscape in and around Willowbrook. The pupils used spray paint to capture these vibrant colours - what a welcome to give our Nursery children on entry to school every day!
  • Year 3 & 4 Welsh Poem Recital Competition

Mon 13 Mar 2017 Steve Davies
Some of our Year 3 & 4 pupils 'stood and delivered' so well in an inter-schools Welsh speaking event, held at Lisvane Primary. They had to remember and recite a Welsh poem which was all about playing sport! It was no small thing for the group to stand in front of a hall full of pupils and adults and recite and act out the poem. They were praised for their accurate Welsh pronunciation! Thanks to Miss Johnson for preparing them so well - they were a credit to Willowbrook.
  • Watoto Ugandan School Choir visits Willowbrook!

Tue 07 Mar 2017 Steve Davies
We were treated to an afternoon of vibrant dance, warmth and vitality from the touring Watoto Children's Choir today. They took us on their journey that shared their message of hope and trust from their own life experience and we were privileged to be able to share this with them! Our own pupils certainly 'rose' to the occasion as the pictures show! One Year 5 pupil commented afterwards that 'they were amazing!'

Well, it seems the standards are raised each year with the quality of our pupils' work in preparation for this special day! Projects completed, poems created, artistry of real quality from Reception to Year 6...all of this and more was celebrated today. Well done to Oak house for clinching the St. David's Day shield for 2017 and congratulations to our Bard for writing a superb poem, capturing castle life from ancient to modern in a piece of quality writing. Diolch yn fawr pawb!
