• Year 3 & 4 Welsh Poem Recital Competition

  Some of our Year 3 & 4 pupils 'stood and delivered' so well in an inter-schools Welsh speaking event, held at Lisvane Primary. They had to remember and recite a Welsh poem which was all about playing sport! It was no small thing for the group to stand in front of a hall full of pupils and adults and recite and act out the poem. They were praised for their accurate Welsh pronunciation! Thanks to Miss Johnson for preparing them so well - they were a credit to Willowbrook. 

  

• Watoto Ugandan School Choir visits Willowbrook!

  We were treated to an afternoon of vibrant dance, warmth and vitality from the touring Watoto Children's Choir today. They took us on their journey that shared their message of hope and trust from their own life experience and we were privileged to be able to share this with them! Our own pupils certainly 'rose' to the occasion as the pictures show! One Year 5 pupil commented afterwards that 'they were amazing!'  

  

• St. David's Day Celebrations!

  Well, it seems the standards are raised each year with the quality of our pupils' work in preparation for this special day! Projects completed, poems created, artistry of real quality from Reception to Year 6...all of this and more was celebrated today. Well done to Oak house for clinching the St. David's Day shield for 2017 and congratulations to our Bard for writing a superb poem, capturing castle life from ancient to modern in a piece of quality writing. Diolch yn fawr pawb!

  

• Multi-Skills Sports Winners!

  Well done to our Year 5 pupils who took part in a Multi-Sports competition and came joint first overall with Bryn Deri Primary! A great achievement and once again, lovely to see sporting success being profiled at Willowbrook!

  

• Reception Bounceathon!

  Thanks Mums & Dads for your help and support in helping raise funds for our annual arrival of eggs ready for hatching! The children had a fabulous time on our bouncy castle as the pictures below show!

  

• Year 3 Tag Rugby Skills Day

  Some of our Year 3 pupils spent a great day at Cardiff Arms Park, developing their tag rugby skills! They took part in a number of skills sessions and had a brilliant time. Thanks to Mr. Slade & Mr. Eagles for taking them and taking part too!

  

• Year 3 & 4 Fitness Competition

  Some of our Year 3 & 4 pupils represented Willowbrook in a Fitness Competition involving 14 teams. They did really well, completing all the skills circuits with dedication and commitment and came away with a 3rd place spot! It's great to see these kinds of broad sporting opportunities being provided for our pupils - keep up the great work @SportCardiff!

  

• Eco Committee's I-Can Challenge!

  On Monday 6th February members of our Eco Committee took part in an 'I-Can Challenge' at Thornhill Primary School. Fifteen schools were involved and had to showcase their work to develop eco-friendly practices in and around their schools. Our team have worked so hard with Miss Davies steering the ship and the photos show the huge scope of eco-aware work that they have done. This has helped make us all aware of the importance of protecting our environment and we are so very grateful to them all.

  Willowbrook Primary received an award for being the most sustainable school and this is something we want to maintain in the months and years to come! Well done Eco-Team!

  

• Class 2's Open Afternoon for Parents

  It was lovely to welcome parents to our 'Open Afternoon' which gave them the opportunity to see a usual learning afternoon in full swing! The children took part in a wide variety of activities and were supported and guided by our excellent teaching team in Reception. Thank you Mums and Dads for taking the time to come in!

  

• Table Tennis Competition

  Today four of our Year 5 pupils took part in a table tennis competition based at the Cardiff Table Tennis Club. There were round-robin games throughout the day and the lads did really well coming in the top half of the table with over 30 pupils involved. Some silky skills (including spin!) were very evident - da iawn lads!
